This paper examines the Hodongseorak gi (Travel Record of Hodongseorak 湖東西洛記), a rare nineteenth-century travelogue recorded by a Joseon woman, Geumwon (1817-?). Written in classical Chinese, she tells of visiting scenic places on the east coast of the Korean Peninsula, including the famous Mount Geumgang 金剛山 (“Diamond Mountain”), that were travel destinations for many of her male literary predecessors and contemporaries.
