  • Crossing Borders, Making Meaning: Transnational Reflexivity as a Methodological Practice in Qualitative Inquiry

    Open Access•Yue Qi, Seunghoon Han•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2026

This article introduces transnational reflexivity as a methodological practice in qualitative inquiry, repositioning reflexivity not as an individualized act of self-awareness but as a dialogical, relational, and power-sensitive practice of meaning-making grounded in transnational experience. While reflexivity is widely recognized as a cornerstone of qualitative research, the positionalities of transnational researchers remain under-theorized, of…

  • How do teacher-student relationships and peer relationships contribute to students’ learning engagement differently? Learning anxiety matters

Open Access•Jinrui Zhou, Yue Qi et al.•ARTICLE•Educational Psychology•2026

The development-in-sociocultural-context model for learning engagement and reciprocal causation framework highlight ongoing transactions among external contexts (eg teacher-student and peer relationships), academic emotions (eg learning anxiety), and learning engagement. It remains unclear how these factors taken together influence learning engagement and the mediating mechanisms involved. The present study aims to examine the reciprocal associat…

  • The impact of privacy risk perception on initial trust in autonomous vehicle: Differential responses of professionals and non-professionals

Yifei Sun, Xiulan LI et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2026

Video-cued multivocal ethnography highlights Head Start teachers' experiences and counternarratives. • Women of color teachers in ECEC endure and expend considerable physical, intellectual, and emotional labor in culturally appropriate ways among increasing standardization. • Such added labor was not demonstrated within the white community in this study. • This extra labor strains an already taxed workforce and impacts teachers’ wellbeing. • Poli…

  • Neural mechanisms of embodied semantic processing in Chinese olfactory metaphors

Open Access•Zhuofei Zhu, Jiayu Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Brain and Language•2026•References: 73

Embodied semantics proposes that language comprehension involves sensorimotor reactivations, yet the extent of this in olfactory language remains unclear, particularly for Chinese metaphorical expressions. This study investigated the neural mechanisms of literal and metaphorical olfactory language processing in Chinese. Twenty-four native Mandarin speakers underwent fMRI scanning while silently reading sentences with literal and metaphorical olfa…

Over the past 10 years, Oosterhof and Todorov’s valence–dominance model has emerged as the most prominent account of how people evaluate faces on social dimensions. In this model, two dimensions (valence and dominance) underpin social judgements of faces. Because this model has primarily been developed and tested in Western regions, it is unclear whether these findings apply to other regions. We addressed this question by replicating Oosterhof an…
