Open Access•Hou I Lau, Ashley Collet et al.•ARTICLE•The Family Journal•2023

Asian Americans (AA) in the United States, and throughout the world, commonly hold a negative connotation or stigma regarding seeking mental health services. This article examines the redress campaign waged by activists in Japan on behalf of roughly 2,000 North Korean A-bomb victims (pipokja). Open Access•Lauren Richardson•ARTICLE•Asian Politics & Policy•2020•Cited by: 1•References: 5

Tokyo’s defense doctrine and behavior have undergone a number of significant shifts under the Abe administration. These have occurred against the backdrop of declining U.S. power in Asia and, more recently, the Trump administration’s idiosyncratic “America First” policy. These developments thus raise questions about Tokyo’s strategic orientation and the continued durability of the U.S.‐Japan alliance. Is Tokyo hedging against possible U.S. strate…

  • Protesting Policy and Practice in South Korea's Nuclear Energy Industry

    Open Access•Lauren Richardson, Mel Gurtov•ARTICLE•Japan focus•2017

The Fukushima nuclear disaster of March 2011 has raised serious questions about nuclear power. In our work since Fukushima, we have tried to answer two questions: What is the current status of nuclear energy in Asia? Does nuclear power have a future in East Asia? By answering those questions, we hope to contribute to the global debate about nuclear energy. To be sure, questions of such magnitude can rarely be answered with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’.…
