Self-Reported Delinquency of High School Students in Metro Manila
Self-report data were gathered from 633 students from public and private schools in metro Manila, Philippines. The study finds overall delinquency prevalence to be higher among males than females but not significantly different from one socioeconomic class to another. Gender and class differentials, however, are found for different types of delinquency (overt property, covert property, theft, swindling, vandalism, drug abuse, alcohol and cigarett…
Male-Female Delinquency in the Philippines
Self-report data were obtained from male and female students in a coastal city in the southern Philippines. Analyses reveal higher rates of delinquency among males. Delinquency is regressed on several independent variables, including peer relations, social bond measures, age, and father's occupation. Social Bonding and Delinquency
A multivariate analysis of social bonding theory of delinquency is presented which includes a comparison by rural-urban location. Findings indicate the bonding scales to be a stronger explanation of delinquency among rural youth, although lack of social bonding is also strongly implicated in delinquency committed by urban youth. Juvenile justice in America was formulated from the dual philosophies of punishment and treatment. The duality is still evident and is manifested in both increased legalization of the juvenile court and the use of diversion from the court. Perceived Seriousness of Crime
Questionnaires concerning attitudes about crime and criminal victimization experiences were mailed to 4000 registered motor vehicle owners in Virginia. The number returned was 1324, of whom 1046 responded to questions on victimization. Analysis indicated two factors as significantly correlated with perceived seriousness of crime, experience of victimization and size of the community. Job satisfaction and perceived bureaucratization in recreational delivery organizations
Data from the responses of 120 park and forest rangers at both the state and federal levels were analyzed relative to stated levels of job satisfaction and perceived degree of bureaucratization in their respective work organizations. While park rangers expressed significantly higher levels of job satisfaction than forest rangers, no significant difference was found between state and federal rangers.
