  • Den spaltede affortryllelse

    Open Access•James Day•ARTICLE•K&K - Kultur og Klasse•2018

Linking Alfred Sohn-Rethel’s analysis of fascism with his critique of epistemology, ‘Fractured Disenchantment’ makes the case for a preliminary theoretical study for the analysis of the return of reaction, primarily, in the case of this article, within Europe and the US. In the 1930s, Sohn-Rethel was in the privileged position of having access to the inner-workings of the German capitalist class at the same time as being part of communist resista…

  • On Broken Ground

    Open Access•James Day•ARTICLE•Rethinking Marxism•2018•References: 2

Following a brief review of dissident Marxist art historian T. J. Clark’s Picasso and Truth, this essay asks whether the techniques developed by certain visual artists and writers over the course of the last century might be applied in Marxist critique. By returning to debates on realism in Europe in the mid 1930s and subsequent work by Marxist art historians, the essay makes the case for the use of modernist-like deformation in contemporary Marx…

  • Plaidoyer for den destruktive karakter

    Open Access•Torsten Andreasen, James Day•ARTICLE•K&K - Kultur og Klasse•2016

‘For too long the accent was placed on creativity’ says Benjamin in his essay on Karl Krauss, written at the beginning of the thirties. In this ‘plaidoyer’ we argue for a destructive critical practice precipitated by the current crisis faced by critique. Following a bare-bones account in which this crisis is traced back to the 1930s, we turn to Benjamin’s destructive character (most obviously present in his 1931 article of the same name, but to b…

  • The Edible Book in the Era of Riots

    James Day•ARTICLE•Third Text•2016

By tracing instances in which words are choked on or eaten in recent artwork and poetry, this article argues for an encompassing disruption to language in the so-called Era of Riots. Following a run through of the argument for the self-abolition of the poet by the editors of Commune Editions, the article cuts to the eating of words in video works by Melanie Gilligan and Lise Skou and Nils Rømer. Sean Bonney’s ‘Letters on Poetics’ are then turned …

  • Development of the Sexual Five-Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ-S)

Françoise Adam, Alexandre Heeren et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Sex Research•2014•Cited by: 4•References: 6

It has been recently demonstrated that mindfulness-based intervention may be particularly suitable for addressing sexual difficulties in women. Although the Five-Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) is currently one of the most widely used scales to assess mindfulness, no adaptation and validation of the FFMQ to measure female sexual functioning has been published. The main aim of this study was to develop and validate a sexual version of the F…

The relationship of physical performance to maturation, characterized by the onset of menarche, was examined annually from 1989 to 1992 among 61 healthy, active perimenarchal girls from 10 to 14 years. Within each age group, differences in selected physical performance variables between and among three maturity groups, early, average, and late, were compared. Subjects categorized as having early or late maturation were those whose age at menarche…
