The Lonely Mind
This research investigates how loneliness influences consumer reactions to advertisements featuring ordinary and extraordinary experiences. In four experimental studies, we explore recalled personal experiences as well as imagined dining and entertainment consumption experiences within an advertising context. Our findings show that, compared with nonlonely consumers, who value both extraordinary and ordinary experiences, lonely consumers derive a…
Experience-gained vs. time-elapsed

Charitable giving represents a significant global economic force, making it crucial to understand the psychological drivers of donation behavior. This research addresses this gap across two studies by investigating the interactive effects of belief in karma, cha…
Smartphone use increases the likelihood of making short-sighted financial decisions
Contextualizing in the digitalization of personal finance (e.g., mobile banking), the present research explores how financial decisions made on smartphones (vs. laptops or tablets) are more likely to be shortsighted, manifesting in being unwilling to save for retirement, referring to recent information while making financial decisions, and opting for instant but smaller rewards. We trace the effect to smartphones’ affordance of ubiquity, an attri…

Perceived Community Support, Users’ Interactions, and Value Co-Creation in Online Health Community
Online health communities (OHCs) face the same problem as other social media platforms in terms of decreasing activity and user attrition. Drawing upon organizational support theory, this study explores how perceived community support affects user interactions and value co-creation which in turn influence their continuous participation. OHCs act as both health knowledge-sharing platforms and important social media for patients, and thus, interper…

Multiple Emotional Contagions and its Dynamic Impact on Consumer’s Negative Emotion under Service encounters
