Thus, this study aims to delve into the non-linear impact of walking accessibility on the subjective well-being of …

  • Identifying Urban functional regions: A multi-dimensional framework approach integrating metro smart card data and car-hailing data

Open Access•Yuling Xie, Xiao Fu et al.•ARTICLE•Environment and Planning B Urban…•2024

Urban functions often diverge from initial planning due to changes driven by residents’ behaviors. Effective urban planning and renewal require accurately identifying urban functional regions based on residents’ behavior data (including activity and travel data). However, previous methods have primarily relied on either point of interest (POI) data or a single source of traffic data, and often ignore the combined influence of residents’ activitie…

In 2010, Chinaʼs government promulgated policies that, within a decade, saw early childhood education universalised across China. In this mixed‐method study, we examine how a preschool advocacy coalition convinced the government to embrace these policies at a time when China was classified as a low and middle‐income country by the World Bank. We posit that, in large part, this was because advocates combined both moral and economic development arg…

Numerous studies have documented the forms of worker activism that have been curbed but few have discussed the state's efforts to bolster alternative forms of participatory management. This article addresses this imbalance with eviden…

  • Detecting Urban Events by Considering Long Temporal Dependency of Sentiment Strength in Geotagged Social Media Data

Open Access•Wei Jiang, Yandong Wang et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2021

The development of location-based services facilitates the use of location data for detecting urban events. Currently, most studies based on location data model the pattern of an urban dynamic and then extract the anomalies, which deviate significantly from the pattern as urban events. However, few studies have considered the long temporal dependency of sentiment strength in geotagged social media data, and thus it is difficult to further improve…

  • Fiscal Decentralisation, the Knowledge Economy and School Teachers’ Wages in Urban China

Yi Long, Christopher Nyland et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Development Studies•2017

We examine how fiscal decentralisation and progress towards the development of a knowledge-intensive economy has affected teachers’ wages in China, utilising panel data from 2001 to 2013. We find that fiscal decentralisation has a negative impact on teachers’ wages and that this effect is magnified through a deepening of the knowledge economy, while the knowledge economy itself has no effect on teachers’ wages. The findings suggest that incentive…

As a fundamental component of trajectory processing and analysis, trajectory map-matching can be used for urban traffic management and tourism route planning, among other applications. While there are many trajectory map-matching methods, urban high-sampling-frequency GPS trajectory data still depend on simple geometric matching methods, which can lead to mismatches when there are multiple trajectory points near one intersection. Therefore, this …
