  • Laboratory study of the sulfation of carbonate stones through SWIR hyperspectral investigation

Open Access•Amelia Suzuki, Vettori et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cultural Heritage•2018•References: 18

  • Updated landslide inventory of the area between the Furiano and Rosmarino creeks (Sicily, Italy)

Open Access•Federico Raspini, Andrea Ciampalini et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2016

A 1:10,000 scale landslide inventory map has been prepared for the area between the Furiano and Rosmarino creeks, in the Nebrodi Mountains (north-eastern Sicily, Italy), a territory highly prone to slope failures, due to the local geological and geomorphological settings and intense rainfall. The landslide inventory database included within the Hydrogeological Setting Plan of the Sicily Region has been used as a starting point for this work. The …

  • Landslide susceptibility of the Prato–Pistoia–Lucca provinces, Tuscany, Italy

Open Access•Samuele Segoni, Veronica Tofani et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2016

We mapped landslide susceptibility in the provinces of Lucca, Pistoia and Prato (central Italy), a 3103 km2 territory that approximately corresponds to the portion of Tuscany principally affected by landslides. We used a methodology based on a treebagger random forest. The input parameters used for the susceptibility assessment are curvature, flow accumulation, topographic wetness index, elevation, profile curvature, planar curvature, slope gradi…

  • Landslide inventory map for the Briga and the Giampilieri catchments, NE Sicily, Italy

Open Access•F Ardizzone, Giuseppe Basile et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2012

On 1 October 2009, a high intensity storm hit the Ionian coast of Sicily, SW of Messina, Italy. The Santo Stefano di Briga rain gauge, located 2 km W of the Ionian coast, recorded 225 mm of rain in seven hours. The intense rainfall event triggered abundant slope failures, and resulted in widespread erosion and deposition of debris along ephemeral drainage channels, extensive inundation, and local modifications of the coastline. Landslides occurre…

  • Integrated geomorphological mapping in the north-western sector of Agrigento (Italy)

Open Access•Andrea Ciampalini, Francesca Cigna et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2012

The geomorphological map is an essential tool to perform a proper urban planning in mountainous or hilly areas. In this paper a multidisciplinary approach to derive a 1:2000 geomorphological map is described. The proposed methodology consists of the integration between aerial photographs, acquired in 2003, and four datasets of Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) measures to update a pre-existing landslide inventory. The integrated data were…

  • Photo-lithological map of the southern flank of the Tindouf Basin (Western Sahara)

Open Access•Andrea Ciampalini, Francesca Garfagnoli et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2012

This paper examines the potential to map surface geology by applying specific enhancement techniques to Landsat 7 ETM+ imagery, resulting in false color composite images, which were interpreted and then validated during a field campaign. The study area is located on the southern flank of the Tindouf Basin (Western Sahara), and it is noted that there is a general lack of bibliographic data due both to the region's remote location and to its diffic…

  • Multi-temporal mapping of land subsidence at basin scale exploiting Persistent Scatterer Interferometry

Open Access•Federico Raspini, Francesca Cigna et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2012

The temporal and spatial evolution of the pumping-induced ground subsidence in the Gioia Tauro plain (Southern Italy) is investigated exploiting multi-temporal analysis of PSInSAR (Permanent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) data from ERS 1/2 (1992–2001) and ENVISAT (2002–2006) satellites. The PSInSAR derived ground deformation velocity maps and related displacement time series reveal that subsidence rates as high as 10–15 mm/yr…
