  • Analysis of a Mammillated Lead‐Barium Glazed Pottery Ornament on the Pommel of a Yue‐Style Bronze Sword With Bird Script

Open Access•Xuening Wang, Zheng Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2026

In China, bronze swords from the Wu and Yue regions of the Warring States period were renowned far and wide. Their pommels were often decorated with concentric rings, jade, turquoise, and other ornaments. In 2014, a bird‐script Yue‐style bronze sword was unearthed from Tomb M675, Phase III of the Jinding site in Linzi, Shandong. Analytical results indicated that this bronze sword pommel is centrally inlaid with a mammillated lead‐barium glazed po…

  • Spatiotemporal Patterns in pCO2 and Nutrient Concentration: Implications for the CO2 Variations in a Eutrophic Lake

Open Access•Jie Xu, Zheng Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Lakes are considered sentinels of terrestrial environmental change. Nevertheless, our understanding of the impact of catchment anthropogenic activities on nutrients and the partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO 2 , an important parameter in evaluating CO 2 levels in water) is still restrained by the scarcity of long-term observations. In this study, spatiotemporal variations in nutrient concentrations (total nitrogen: TN, total phosphorus: TP, …

Open Access•Zheng Zhou, Yinlong Jin et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2006

Indoor air pollution (IAP) from biomass and coal is a leading cause of mortality and disease burden in the developing world. There is limited evidence of the community effectiveness of interventions for reducing IAP exposure. We conducted a community-based intervention study of stove and health education interventions in four low-income Chinese provinces: Gansu, Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, and Shaanxi. Separate townships in one county in each provin…

Open Access•Zheng Zhou, Kathie L Dionisio et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2013

The highest levels of air pollution in the world now occur in developing country cities, where air pollution sources differ from high-income countries. We analyzed particulate matter (PM) chemical composition and estimated the contributions of various sources to particle pollution in poor and affluent neighborhoods of Accra, Ghana. Elements from earth’s crust were most abundant during the seasonal Harmattan period between late December and late J…

  • Continuous weeklong measurements of indoor particle levels in a Minnesota Tribal Casino Resort

Open Access•Zheng Zhou, David Bohac et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

The results show that indoor concentration of PM2.5 is substantially higher than the outdoor level, posing health risks to casino workers and patrons. SHS can migrate into adjacent non-smoking areas very quickly. The casino's ventilation system did not fully eliminate SHS. A completely smoke-free casino would be the only way to fully protect non-smoking patrons and employees from the dangers of tobacco smoke
