  • Living labs as orchestrators in the regional innovation ecosystem

Open Access•Janin Fauth, Kevin De Moortel et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Responsible Innovation•2024

This research explores the conceptual integration of Living Labs (LLs) into the Regional Innovation Ecosystem (RIE) to understand their potential as facilitators of Responsible Innovation. While previous studies explored the role of Living Labs, they lack comprehensive integration strategies for addressing wicked problems. A conceptual framework is developed to understand the main role, detailed functions, and key elements for integration. Seven …

  • Technological convergence in audio-visual technologies

Cédric Courtois, Evelien D’heer et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Digital…•2012•References: 1

This article presents the results of a large-scale survey on viewing practices. Data from over 10,000 cases are used to explore the adoption-use diffusion gap and the correlation structures in the frequency of use of multiple channels (e.g. linear television, download, video-on-demand) on multiple devices. The results show that, although a lot of devices capable of audio-visual playback have been adopted, few of them are used to consume televisio…

  • The chasm between having and using – Adoption versus use diffusion of iDTV in Flanders

Dimitri Schuurman, Lieven De Marez et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Digital…•2011•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The study of innovation has traditionally been characterized by two main paradigms: the ‘diffusion of innovations’ and the ‘domestication’ of innovations. They were originally considered as two distinct approaches with their own methods, tools and assumptions. However, recently an ‘interactionist’ stance has emerged, trying to combine the best of both worlds. This has resulted in research efforts combining insights from both traditions. Within th…

  • Challenges and opportunities of iDTV for audience measurement systems

Katrien Berte, Philip Leroux et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Digital…•2010•References: 4

Advanced innovations such as digital transmission technologies and personal video-recorders (PVRs) have changed TV viewing behaviour. In order to maintain their position as the world's largest advertising channel, television broadcasters are increasingly dependent on accurate and in-depth audience data. Unfortunately, the traditional measurement techniques fail to keep up with innovations of interactive digital TV (iDTV) such as video-on-demand (…

  • Biotechnology and the Popular Press in Northern Belgium

    Open Access•Pieter Maeseele, Pieter A Maeseele et al.•ARTICLE•Science Communication•2008

The media representation of biotechnology has received widespread attention during the last decade. Two gaps, however, are present in this literature, both of which are addressed in this study. We present data from a content analysis of coverage appearing in three popular newspapers in Northern Belgium between January 2000 and October 2004 ( N = 506). The main findings reveal that the trends identified in the European elite press from 1992 to 199…
