HBIM for conservation and valorization of structural heritage
HBIM for conservation and management of heritage structures in archaeological sites. • HBIM-based workflow for valorization and conservation of the Stylite Tower in Jordan. • BIM process for accurate 3D representation at the level of detail of a single block. • Advanced informative modelling according to IFC standards. • Application of HBIM process for enhancement and dissemination of masonry structures. The Heritage Building Information Modeling…
Quantitative characterization of archaeological bronzes based on thermal and compositional analysis
Pulsed thermography has been applied to the quantitative characterization of the insertions of two ancient bronzes, the Boxer at Rest and the Hellenistic Prince . The analysis of the thermographic signal time dependence performed by a specifically developed model enabled the evaluation of the insertions’ thickness and of elements which could provide indications about the procedure followed for their insertion. This could be achieved by exploiting…
Enhancing Home Education in Italian Context
Homebound Education in Italy is based on one-to-one teaching conducted by teachers who visit the sick student at home. This modality does not include interactions between homebound students and classmates, thus inhibiting the educational aspect of peer relationships. With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent dispositions of the Ministry of Education regarding remote education and integrated digital didactic (DID), new opportun…
The “Lost Guardians” of Dante’s Inferno
On the occasion of the 700th centenary of the death of Dante Alighieri, medium wave infrared imaging analysis of illuminations of the XIV-century code of the Divina Commedia (MS. 1102), hosted in the Biblioteca Angelica in Rome, was performed and discussed. The investigation was carried out by means of thermographic and reflectographic techniques on illuminations where the iconographic representation appeared severely damaged. In particular, thro…
