  • Forensic Science Applied to Cultural Heritage

    Open Access•Siria Rosa, Maurizio Lazzari•ARTICLE•Heritage•2026

This article highlights how analytical approaches act as an essential pillar against cultural heritage counterfeiting and illicit trafficking, considering that different methodologies can be used in forensic science applied specifically to cultural heritage. The study provides a comprehensive overview of the history of counterfeiting, contextualizing how illicit practices evolved alongside historical art markets. Furthermore, it examines the prog…

  • Landslide inventory of the Basilicata region (Southern Italy)

Open Access•Maurizio Lazzari, Deborah Gioia et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2018

A 1:10,000 scale landslide inventory map has been prepared for the Basilicata region (southern Italy) through extensive geomorphological analyses based on aerial photo-interpretations and field surveys. The study area (about 8000 km2) includes different morpho-structural domains of the southern Italian Apennines, and our results suggest that mass movement processes are mainly related to the intrinsic fragility of the landscape, which is featured …

  • Regional-scale landslide inventory, central-western sector of the Basilicata region (Southern Apennines, Italy)

    Open Access•Maurizio Lazzari, Deborah Gioia•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2016

A detailed landslide inventory map has been drawn for a large sector of the axial-outer zone of the Southern Italian Apennines using photo-aerial interpretation and field survey. Our results reveal a landscape greatly affected by landslide phenomena, which involve about 7% of the entire area. DEM analysis allowed us to assess the influence of landslide processes on the geomorphological evolution and investigate the main predisposing factors, whic…

The ninth volume of Notebooks on Medieval Topography (Documentary and field research), gives much input into research about Cultural Landscape. Latium (Monte Romano; Viterbo), and Basilicata (provinces of Potenza and Matera) are the Italian lands chosen to which methods, instruments and analyses, have been applied. Research from geology, archaeology, history, agronomy, history of art, engineering, architecture, literature, photography and cinema …
