  • Horticulture Sector in India: Trends, Performance, and Impact

A K Shiva Kumar, Anjani Kumar et al.•ARTICLE•Economic and political…•2026

This study examines trends in the progress and performance of India’s horticulture sector as well evaluates its impact on farmers’ income. The analysis shows that higher income from horticulture than that of crops are driving its growth. The findings indicate that India’s horticulture sector has exhibited robust performance over the years and that sectoral growth has contributed to increased farmers’ economic welfare. Farmers’ participation in ho…

  • The Unseen Bedrock of Global Health Law: Putting Civil Registration and Vital Statistics at the Core of the Global Health Law Agenda

Open Access•Kriti Sharma, Margherita Melillo et al.•ARTICLE•AJIL Unbound•2026

Civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems comprise two interdependent components: civil registration (CR) and vital statistics (VS). Civil registration records the occurrence and characteristics of vital events in a population, including births, deaths, fetal deaths, and cause of death information. 1 Vital statistics compile and process the data derived from civil registration to analyze mortality trends, and track demographic patter…

  • Relationally Responsible: Relational Ontologies and Collective Agency, Ethics, and Politics

Kriti Sharma, Michal Osterweil et al.•ARTICLE•Philosophy Today•2025

We argue that relational ontology reconfigures agency as consciousness of and responsibility for the worlds people bring forth collectively; virtue as primarily a property of collectives; and politics as ontological multi-scalar transformation. The relational self is both more and less responsible than the atomized self: less responsible (as individuals, and to a lesser extent as collectives) for the worlds we currently inhabit, yet more responsi…

  • Contextualising international student migration to Canada: The case of Indian Punjab youths

    Open Access•Kriti Sharma, Ito Peng•ARTICLE•New Community•2025•References: 36

The magnitude and persistence of the international student flow from the Indian Punjab to Canada over the last decade presents a compelling case for International Student Migration research, yet empirical data on this specific phenomenon is scant. We address this gap through a thematic analysis based on interviews with 34 Punjabi students aspiring for Canadian education. We investigate Punjabi student migration as the complex interplay between in…

  • Political Polarization and the Dynamics between Actual Income and Perceived Income Inequality in the United States, 1987 to 2021

Open Access•C Wu, Kriti Sharma et al.•ARTICLE•Socius Sociological Research for…•2024•References: 1

The rich often perceive lower levels of inequality than the poor. In recent decades, however, notions regarding the equality or inequality of our society have progressively taken on a more political nature. Consequently, people’s perceptions of income inequality may be less associated with their actual income status and more with their political ideology. The authors visualize this “political turn” using data from the U.S. General Social Survey (…

  • Embroidered Bishoi Shawls of Rajasthan: Threads of Its History

Rajasthan, the north-western state of India presents a great variety of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Owing to its unique geographical position in the country, the place is full of historic influences and wealth of art with reflection of cultural diversity along with considerable amount of overlaps in practicing rituals and mode of dressing. The state features a number of embroideries with unique traditions in terms of their costumes…

  • Interdependence: Biology and Beyond

    Kriti Sharma•BOOK•Interdependence•2015

In Interdependence, biologist Kriti Sharma offers a tightly argued, richly exemplified, and impressively coherent alternative to the popular view that interdependence simply means “independent things interacting.” Sharma systematically builds up a view of interdependence as mutual constitution—a detailed explanation of how things come into being at all dependent on one another. Sharma takes the reader step-by-step through increasingly sophisticat…

  • Finding Subaltern Voices: A Case for Preservation of Colonial Legal Proceedings

    Kriti Sharma•ARTICLE•Socio-Legal Review•2015

Colonial courts are seen as places of action for the “two-facedness of colonial law” wherein the British sought to introduce universalist principles of adjudication, such as the ‘Rule of Law’, yet also appeased the native legal conservatives and traditionalists who formed the dominant class. It is realized that in this process the narratives of colonized subalterns- of adivasis, dalits, gender and religious minorities are often found to be lost. …
