A data-informed multidimensional composite score for stress assessment
Occupations such as the military, emergency responders, and athletes demand acute physical, cognitive and psychosocial effort. Individuals in these roles face task-specific stressors, including extreme heat, sustained mental focus and performance under social pressure, resulting in variable stress responses. Comparing individual stress responses is challenging due to the complex physiological, cognitive, and emotional interactions. This study pre…

Pleasurable challenges
Globally, people’s life expectancies are increasing and we are living longer than past generations. In Australia, people aged 65 years and older are expected to represent 22% of the country’s total population in 2057. At present, 65 years is the retirement age in Australia and, as a result, it marks the opportunity for many older Australians to start spending more time engaging in leisure activities. This article examines ballet class participati…
Using a theoretical approach to identify factors influencing adherence to an exercise programme for adults with venous leg ulcers
This study assessed the relationships between self-efficacy, outcome expectations, fear-avoidance beliefs and adherence to an exercise for a home-based exercise programme for adults with venous leg ulcers. Patients ( n=63) were randomised to receive either an intervention or usual care group. Of those in the exercise intervention group, 59per cent adhered to the exercise protocol more than 75per cent of the time. There was a significant relations…
Effect of subgroup ratio on stereotyping
Male and female subjects observed a discussion by a group with one of three sex ratios (9M‐IF, SM‐SF, 1M‐9F) and in which the male contributions were expressed in a more or less stereotype consistent manner. The results indicated that male speakers were stereotyped less than females and that male compared with female speakers were stereotyped increasingly less as the number of like speakers in the group increased
