  • Who is the “boss” in planning to have a baby? Fertility and household bargaining in China

Open Access•Jie Ma, Xiaojun Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Demographic Economics•2025

Although fertility is typically regarded as a unitary family decision, a meaningful degree of disagreement in fertility willingness exists within households, especially for having two or more children. As China transitioned from a one-child to multiple-child policy, understanding how such disagreement affects fertility decisions is crucial. Using household data from the 2016 China Labor-force Dynamic Survey, we analyze fertility willingness in ma…

  • Associations between blood systemic inflammatory markers and anxiety in Helicobacter pylori-infected patients

Open Access•Jun Gong, Jiantao Gong et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2025

Our findings suggest systemic inflammation indices contribute to anxiety development in H. pylori infection and may serve as practical biomarkers for anxiety screening

  • The reciprocal relationship between prosocial behaviour and self-perceived physical health

Open Access•Xiaojun Yang, Peng Sun et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Health Psychology•2025•Referencias: 63

The present study used a cross-lagged design to explore the bidirectional relationship between adolescents' prosocial behaviour and self-perceived physical health and to explore the mediating role of positive affect and the moderating role of openness to experience. A total of 1525 middle school students ( M age = 12.41, 47% male) in northern China were surveyed for 3 years. The results showed the following: (1) prosocial behaviour at T1 positive…

  • Association between exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and endometriosis

Open Access•Li Zhang, Xiaojun Yang•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Aim: To evaluate the association between urinary polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) metabolites and the risk of endometriosis. Methods: This cross-sectional study obtained data on women aged 20-54 years from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001-2006. The weighted multivariate logistic regression model was established to assess the association between the eight urinary PAH metabolites and the risk of endometriosis.…

  • Spatial Difference and Convergence of Ecological Common Prosperity

Open Access•Pei Liu, Jiajun Xu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

Analyzing the spatial difference and convergence of ecological common prosperity (ECP) in the Yellow River Basin (YRB) will be beneficial for the environmental governance and multi-regional economic coordination. Based on the panel data of 97 cities in the YRB from 2003 to 2019, this paper measured and analyzed the index of ECP, the Gini coefficient of ECP, and the convergence of ECP. The results indicate that the ECP of YRB shows a steady growth…

  • Peer effects in local government decision-making

Open Access•Jiajun Xu, Jinchao Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2022

  • Relative Contribution of Metal Content and Soil Particle Mass to Health Risk of Chromium-Contaminated Soil

Open Access•Shuting Huang, Fei Huang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Three soil samples from a chromium (Cr)-contaminated field were classified into five particle fractions (i.e., 0-50 μm, 50-100 μm, 100-250 μm, 250-500 μm, and 500-1000 μm) and were further characterized to study their physicochemical properties and Cr bioaccessibility. The results indicated that the gastrointestinal bioaccessibility estimated by the Solubility Bioaccessibility Research Consortium (SBRC) method was on average 15.9% higher than tha…

  • Remote sensing-based morphological analysis of core city growth across the globe

  • Waterbird Composition and Changes With Wetland Park Construction at Lake Dianchi, Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau

Open Access•Rongxing Wang, Rong-Xing Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Mountain Research and Development•2021

Establishing effectively protected and managed ecosystems with high biodiversity is the broad aim of the Aichi initiative. Assessing the biodiversity of a specific ecosystem is the first step in estimating its conservation value. Most lakes on the Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau are formed by mountain faulting and are surrounded by human settlements. Lake ecosystems are fragile and frequently disturbed by pollution, agricultural activities, and tourism. T…

  • Household fuelwood consumption in western rural China

Open Access•Xiaojun Yang, Jun Li et al.•ARTICLE•Environment and Development…•2020

This paper examines ethnic differences in fuelwood consumption in rural households, using an original survey dataset from two western Chinese provinces with large ethnic minority populations. We use a Heckman two-stage selection model to explain the quantity of fuelwood consumed conditional on a decision to use fuelwood. We find that ethnic minority families are more likely than majority Han Chinese families to use fuelwood. We also find that a h…

  • Visual and Statistical Comparisons of Surface Modeling Techniques for Point-based Environmental Data

    Xiaojun Yang, Thomas W Hodler•ARTICLE•Cartography and Geographic…•2000

Existing studies on spatial interpolation tend to overplay statistical perspective, paying little attention the locality and the visual performance of generated surface models. In an attempt to bridge these gaps in literatures, the authors compared the performance of five surface modelling methods, using a set of integrative criteria including absolute and relative statistical accuracy, visual pleasantness and faithfulness of generated surface mo…
