  • Distribution of Genetic Markers in Tribal Populations from Maharashtra, India

    Open Access•Hubert Walter, M A Phadke et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1998•References: 1

Five tribal populations (Hindu Mahadeo Koli, Vatankar, Madia Gond, Halbi, Pardhan) from different regions of Maharasthra with t total of n - 534 male and female individuals were typed for four serum protein polymorphisms (HP. TF. GC. PI). In addition to this the Hindu Mahadeo Koli samples could be also typed for the polymorphic blood group systems A1A2B0. MN and RHESUS as well as for the polymorphic red cell enzyme groups ACPI, F-SD and PGMl (sub…

  • Genetic studies in Medzev, an isolate in South-Eastern Slovakia. 2. Distribution of blood group genetic markers

Daniela Siváková, Ingrid Wiechmann et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropologischer Anzeiger•1997

Phenotype and gene frequencies of three blood group, four serum protein and seven red cell enzyme polymorphisms were examined in 105 individuals from the population of Medzev, South-Eastern Slovakia. Locus and allele specific tests of homogeneity were calculated in order to obtain the pattern of variation. The results indicate considerable genetic differences between this population and another local population of this region (Chmelnica) as well …

  • Genetic serum protein markers (HP, TF, GC and PI) in eight Slovakian population samples

Open Access•Daniela Siváková, Hubert Walter et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1994

1194 individuals from eight different regions of Slovakia have been typed for haptoglobin (HP) types and for transferrin (TF), group specific component (GC) and alpha-1-antitrypsin (PI) subtypes. Whereas the HP allele frequencies do not show a remarkable regional variability within Slovakia, this could be demonstrated concerning the TF, GC and PI allele frequencies. The reason for these distribution heterogeneities seems to be due to the incomple…

  • HP, TF and GC Phenotype and Allele Frequencies in Four South Indian Population Groups

Open Access•Hubert Walter, P Veerraju et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1994

HP, TF and GC serum protein polymorphisms were typed on the Kamma caste group as well as on three Muslim groups (Dawoodi Bohara, Sunni, Shia) from the Visakhapatnam area in Andhra Pradesh (South India). The distribution of HP allele frequencies shows a remarkable intergroup variability, whereas TF and GC allele frequencies do not differ obviously among these four population groups. The results arc compared with those obtained on other population …

  • Genetic Serum Protein Markers in Four Tribal Populations from Kerala, India

Open Access•Tara Devi, S Tara Devi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1994

Four tribal populations from Kerala could be typed for serum protein polymorphisms: Paniyans, Kattunakkens, Cholanaickens (HP, GC and PI subtypes), and Kannikars (HP only), Though the population samples are rather small clear gene lie differences among them could be observed, which without doubt have been caused by locally acting genetic differentiation processes and could be maintained due to the genetic isolation of these four population groups

  • Genetic serum protein markers (HP, TF, GC, PI) in three population samples from Thuringia (Germany); Jena, Erfurt and Suhl

Open Access•Hubert Walter, Gesa Rohwedder et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1993

Haptoglobin (HP), transferrin (TF), group specific component (GC) and protease inhibitor (PI) polymorphisms were studied in three population samples from Thuringia: Jena, n=204; Erfurt, n=213; Suhl, n=180. GC and in particular TF allele frequencies show some statistically significant distribution heterogeneity, whereas HP and PI allele frequencies do not show any remarkable distribution differences. The results are discussed and compared with tho…

  • Genetic serum protein markers in eight South Indian caste and tribal populations

Hubert Walter, J M Naidu et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1992

A total of n = 769 unrelated male and female individuals from eight endogamous caste (Brahmin, Kapu, Yadava, Relli) and tribal (Bagatha, Kotia, Manne Dora, Konda Dora) populations living in various districts of Andhra Pradesh (India) have been typed for haptoglobin (HP) types and transferrin (TF), group specific component (GC) and alpha 1-antitrypsin (PI) subtypes. The genetic heterogeneity among these population groups is considerable. This can …

  • Genetic serum protein markers (PH, GC, PI) in two South Indian caste populations

    Open Access•Hubert Walter, P Veerraju et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1992

The results of HP, GC and PI typings on two caste populations (Relli-I: fruit vendors, Relli-II: scavengers) from Andhra Pradesh (South India) are reported and compared with data obtained on other Indian population samples
