  • GM and KM allotypes in nine population samples of Sicily

Open Access•Hubert Walter, Hideo Matsumoto et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•1997

Serum samples of 864 unrelated healthy male and female individuals belonging to nine provinces of Sicily were types for Glm (1,2,3,17), G3m (5,10,11,13,14,15,16,21), and KM (1). With the exception of the Trapani sample these samples are characterized by the presence of five GM haplotypes: GM*1,17;21,26; GM*1,2,17;21,26; GM*1,3;5,10,11,13,14,26; GM*3;5,10,13,14,26; and GM*1,17;10,11,13,15,16. The interpopulation variability in the distribution of …

  • Serum protein polymorphisms in seven populations from Middle Eastern and Eastern Europe

    H Danker-Hopfe, Heidi Danker‐hopfe et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1995

Serum specimens from 1385 unrelated males and females from seven Middle East and East European sample surveys (Prague, Olomouc, Krakow, Poznan, Szeged, Moscow, and Jekaterinburg) have been typed for seven polymorphic serum protein polymorphisms (GC, TF, PLG, PI, A2HS, F13B, and ITI). The distributions of phenotype and allele frequencies show a marked heterogeneity, especially with regard to the allel GC*1F of the GC system, the alleles A2HS*1 and…

  • Genetic serum protein markers (HP, TF, GC and PI) in eight Slovakian population samples

Open Access•Daniela Siváková, Hubert Walter et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1994

1194 individuals from eight different regions of Slovakia have been typed for haptoglobin (HP) types and for transferrin (TF), group specific component (GC) and alpha-1-antitrypsin (PI) subtypes. Whereas the HP allele frequencies do not show a remarkable regional variability within Slovakia, this could be demonstrated concerning the TF, GC and PI allele frequencies. The reason for these distribution heterogeneities seems to be due to the incomple…

  • Genetic Studies in Five Population Samples of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, North-West India

    Open Access•Hubert Walter, H Danker-Hopfe et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•1993

Five caste populations (Brahmins, Rajputs, Khatris, Mahajans, Kambohs) from Chamba (Himachal Pradesh) and Sanaur village near Patiala (Punjab) were typed for HP polymorphism and TF. GC and PI subtype polymotphisms. Including already published data on the distribution of red cell enzyme polymorphisms the genetic heterogeneity among these five caste populations was analyzed, which proved to be considerable concerning the polymorphic systems GC, PI,…
