Anthropometric and genetic distance between Gonds of Central India
A morphological and genetic study was undertaken on five Gondi‐speaking populations of Central India (Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra States). There has been no systematic biological study on this large Dravidian‐speaking tribal group, 4 million in number, amounting to 13% of the total tribal population of India. Data was collected on 16 anthropometric measurements and seven genetic markers (blood groups, hemoglobin, G6PD and plasma protein polymo…
Comparative analysis of mating systems and marriage distance patterns in five tribal Groups of Andhra Pradesh, India
Various studies on marriage patterns in India have indicated that the incidence of consanguineous marriages varies according to linguistic groups. This study was carried out in an area of culture contact of several different linguistic groups. A study of five endogamous tribal groups showed that the degree of consanguinity and type of consanguineous marriages were closely related to the linguistic area to which each population belonged. The Raj G…
A genetical study of the five tribal groups of Andhra Pradesh, India
Evidence for a genetic cline in earwax types in the Middle East and Southeast Asia
Data obtained on cerumen types in the Middle East and Southeast Asia indicate frequencies for the dry allele that are intermediate between previously reported high values in the northern Orient and low values in Caucasian and Negro populations. This evidence in combination with previously existing data reveals a genetic cline in earwax types in this part of the world
