Using data from the Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey, the article evaluates the impact of self-assessed health and morbidity on the hourly wage rate in the Russian labor market in 2015–2021. The main research method is econometric modeling. Random effects panel models for the working population show that good health contributes 3–4% to wages, while poor health reduces wages by 9%. No gender difference was identified in the contribution of h…
Determinants of Economic Growth in Regions with Different Covid-19 Incidence Rates
The article examines the incidence of COVID-19 in Russia within a framework of the endogenous growth model. All regions of Russia were divided into three groups according to the incidence rate values, for each of which threshold regression models were constructed for 2008–2018, where the threshold is the stock of human capital. For group 1, two thresholds were identified, and a negative statistically significant relationship was found between pub…
Health Capital Estimates for Russian Regions in 2004–2018
The study aims to select an indicator of health capital and estimate it at the regional level in the Russian Federation using econometric modeling for 2004–2018. The article uses data from Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey. Two specifications of ordinal logistic models and panel logistic regressions with random effects are used to elicit health socioeconomic, demographic, behavioral, and health-related determinants of the Russian population.…
The choice of a health capital indicator in russian regions
Health capital is a component of human capital providing a link to human health and being which is one of the main determinants of economic growth. Until present, the empirical modeling of health capital greatly depends on selection indicators of health capital fromroutinely collected statistical indicators. Interrelation of R&D, Knowledge Spillovers, and Dynamics of the Economic Growth of Russian Regions
The article explores the interrelations between research and development (R&D), innovation activity, and economic growth in the Russian regions. To analyze these interrelations, the econometric framework is applied. Based on data for 2005–2013, panel regression with fixed effects and the Arellano–Bond model are constructed. Hypotheses about the significant impact of knowledge and socioeconomic conditions on regional growth have been tested, while…
Diagnostics of innovative development of Siberia
The paper exposes methods for diagnostic of the innovative process of a region. The results of factor, regression, and cluster analyses of the indicators of science and innovations made it possible to detect significant factors for the national and Siberian innovative profiles for 2007 and 2010. For regions of Siberia, the significant factors are investments in human capital and efficiency, investments in technological innovations, and innovative…
