  • Power, institutionalization, and temporality

    Open Access•Leandro Sebastián Fervier, Victoria Sanagustín-Fons et al.•ARTICLE•Critical Sociology•2026

This article develops a critical analysis of the theoretical framework of social order proposed by Grothe-Hammer and Berkowitz. Their model offers a parsimonious, analytically decomposable account of order, yet its dimensions of “determination” and “variability” (articulated through non-decision and non-decidability) risk depoliticizing order if read in isolation from agency, power, and temporality. Drawing on sociological new institutionalism an…

  • Mapping of textural facies in Europa’s chaotic terrains

Open Access•Ana de Dios-Cubillas, Iván López et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2025

ESA’s JUICE and NASA’s Europa Clipper missions aim to uncover the processes behind chaotic terrain formation. To contribute to this understanding, we mapped chaos units and classified their internal structure into four geomorphological facies (i-iv), representing a gradient from greater disruption to increasing fractional melting of the crust, based on the block-to-matrix ratio and the fracture state determined by the degree of block displacement…

  • Ecotourism as a Catalyst for Sustainable Development

Open Access•Isabel Pilar Castillo-Salazar, Maria Victoria Sanagustín Fons et al.•ARTICLE•Societies•2025•References: 8

This study examines the multifaceted impact of ecotourism and conservation initiatives on sustainable development in the Sobrarbe region of Spain, with a particular focus on the role of the Foundation for the Conservation of the Bearded Vulture (FCQ). Using a mixed-methods approach, including comprehensive document analysis and in-depth qualitative interviews, we investigate how ecotourism practices and land stewardship agreements contribute to l…

  • TeleHelp Ukraine

Open Access•Aditya Narayan, Mariia Petryk et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2024

Background: Humanitarian crises frequently garner solidarity and robust volunteer recruitment among health care communities. However, a common obstacle is matching providers to those in need across geographic and other barriers. We examined the application of a decentralised governance strategy in establishing an emergency telemedicine response, TeleHelp Ukraine (THU). Methods: Using a case study approach, we explored how global networking and te…

  • Geology of the Imdr Regio area of Venus

Open Access•Iván López, Lucía Martín et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2023

We present a 1:5,000,000 geological map of the Imdr Regio area of Venus. Geological mapping was conducted using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images, altimetry and stereo-derived topography data from NASA's Magellan mission. The map covers an area of approximately 7.9 × 106 km2 and exhibits a variety of tectonic structures and units of volcanic origin related to the evolution of Imdr Regio and surrounding plains. We have differentiated primary s…

  • Justicia ambiental

Open Access•Iván López•ARTICLE•EUNOMÍA Revista en Cultura de la…•2014

The concept of environmental justice emphasizes and demonstrates the connection between both the severe deterioration of the natural environment, and the unequal distribution of the negative consequences of environmental laws and policies designed to address it. In contemporary societies, the socially disadvantaged social groups (either by their socio-economic, cultural, or ethnic origin, or other characteristics) as well as the regions of the wo…
