This article argues that rhetorical theory will never dominate a quasi-originary and ontolg ising rhetoricity that nonetheless calls for it. Freese and Powell make a number of critiques of the theoretical assumptions, statistical methods, and use of variables in our paper, which raises questions about the typical use of the equal environments assumption in twin research. We do not find that any of their critiques modify our conclusion that the equal environments assumption cannot be taken for granted but must be subjected to empirical testing. Analyses of the consequences of poverty often treat poor children as a single, homogeneous group. We study relations among depth or timing of poverty, mother's marital history, and quality of the home environment for children aged 6-9, using data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth. Patterns of Care in General Hospitals for Patients With Psychiatric Diagnoses
Patients with psychiatric diagnoses in general hospitals in New Jersey in 1985 with and without dedicated psychiatric units are compared. Unit and nonunit bed occupants are compared also in hospitals having dedicated units. Types of referral, case-mix, length of stay, co-morbidity, transfer to other settings, and social characteristics of patients vary by type of bed.
