Fiction as Supplement to History: The Case of Yuan Jiao’s Ganze Yao
In this essay I examine the relationship between fictive and historical (here meaning otherwise attested, rather than necessarily veracious) elements in two tales from the Tang dynasty writer Yuan Jiao’s 袁郊 ninth-century Ganze yao 甘澤謠, a collection of anecdotes about events in the Tang past. Fictionality in Early and Medieval China
Although there is no explicit concept of fictionality in early and medieval China, one can find expressions of what might be identified as fiction across various genres, including philosophical writing, poetry, and semi-or pseudo-historical narrative tales. The Works of Li Qingzhao

Research on the role that religion and spirituality play in divorce is fairly limited and what has been published deals mostly with postdivorce adjustment. Very little research examines the role religion and spirituality play in the actual decision to divorce or stay married. We report the results of a content analysis of 30 qualitative interviews specifically focused on the intersection of religion, spirituality, and the divine and the role thes…
Seeking Clarity and Confidence in the Divorce Decision-Making Process
There is a well-established literature dedicated to why couples divorce, transitions associated with divorce, and the impact of divorce on families. However, little is known about the divorce decision-making process. We conducted in-depth interviews with individuals who have recently considered divorce (n = 30) and asked specifically about the roles of 2 concepts in their decision-making process: clarity and confidence. Three major themes emerged…
