  • Zonas de Reserva Campesina y territorialidades vivas en el Sumapaz

    Open Access•Francisco Gómez•ARTICLE•Revista de Estudios Colombianos•2026

This article analyzes the role of Campesino Land Reserves (ZRC) in shaping living territorialities and campesino struggles in the Sumapaz region of Colombia. Drawing on political ecology and decolonial theory, it examines the ZRC as a legal mechanism, a space of identity, and a site where the páramo is configured as a living territory. Based on fieldwork in San Juan, Betania, and Nazareth, the study shows how campesino communities reconfigure not…

  • How The Social Interactions in Communities affect the Fear of Crime

Open Access•Cristian Pulido, Jeisson Prieto et al.•ARTICLE•Systems Research and Behavioral…•2019

Fear of crime (FoC) refers to the subjective risk assessment of being a crime victim and the magnitude of its consequences. FoC emerges as a social construct, which is highly dependent on various psychological, cultural, and social factors. Mathematical models for the emergence and diffusion of information related to FoC relies on sequential and random interactions among persons. However, these interactions seem to be simultaneous and conditioned…

  • Natural language processing for music knowledge discovery

Sergio Orama, Sergio Oramas et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of New Music Research•2018•Cited by: 2•References: 12

Today, a massive amount of musical knowledge is stored in written form, with testimonies dated as far back as several centuries ago. In this work, we present different Natural Language Processing (NLP) approaches to harness the potential of these text collections for automatic music knowledge discovery, covering different phases in a prototypical NLP pipeline, namely corpus compilation, text-mining, information extraction, knowledge graph generat…

  • Melodic Contour and Mid-Level Global Features Applied to the Analysis of Flamenco Cantes

Joaquín Mora, Francisco Gómez et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of New Music Research•2016

This work focuses on the topic of melodic characterization and similarity in a specific musical repertoire: a cappella flamenco singing, more specifically in debla and martinete styles. We propose the combination of manual and automatic description. First, we use a state-of-the-art automatic transcription method to account for general melodic similarity from music recordings. Second, we define a specific set of representative mid-level melodic fe…

  • Integración de contenidos 3D de la cultura ibérica en Europeana

Open Access•A L Martínez Carrillo, Francisco Gómez et al.•ARTICLE•Virtual Archaeology Review•2012

Over the last few years, Internet has become the main information provider in every field. The initiative for the digital library of European culture, Europeana, sets in this framework of such information technologies. This paper reports on the method used to integrate 3D archeological data in a website currently under construction at the Andalusian Centre for Iberian Archaeology of the University of Jaén. The initiative is funded by project CARA…

  • Measuring Similarity between Flamenco Rhythmic Patterns

Catherine Guastavino, Francisco Gómez et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of New Music Research•2009•References: 6

Music similarity underlies a large part of a listener's experience, as it relates to familiarity and associations between different pieces or parts. Rhythmic similarity has received scant research attention in comparison with other aspects of music similarity such as melody or harmony. Mathematical measures of rhythmic similarity have been proposed, but none of them has been compared to human judgments. We present a first study consisting of two …

  • MMPI–2 and MMPI–A Research with U.S. Latinos

    Open Access•Monica L Corrales, Francisco Gómez et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1998

This bibliography presents a comprehensive listing of all research conducted on U.S. Latinos, including Puerto Ricans, with the MMPI-2 and MMPI-A beginning in 1989. A total of 52 studies and 6 additional resources are listed. Researchers and clinicians could use this bibliography for the culturally appropriate application of the MMPI-2/MMPI-A with this growing population

  • Mexican Immigration and the Port-of-Entry School

Open Access•Reynaldo Baca, Dexter Bryan et al.•ARTICLE•International Migration Review•1989•References: 5

The results of an immigrant student census in a port-of-entry school district are used to describe the educational backgrounds of Mexican immigrant students and to distinguish types of Mexican immigrant students by school entry patterns. Interviews with recently arrived Mexican immigrant parents reveal the educational and occupational expectations they hold for their children in the U.S. The study findings are used as a basis for raising policy q…
