One-Thirteenth of a Data Point Does Not a Generalization Make
While Dulić’s article is a helpful assessment of the sources Rummel used, it fails as a test of his general democide estimation methods or as an evaluation of his democide estimate for Tito’s Yugoslavia. Aside from mistakenly generalizing from one regime to Rummel’s results for 218, Dulić ignores 39 years of Rummel’s estimates for 1949–87 to concentrate on his own estimation of what Rummel’s estimate would be for 1944–48 (12.8% of the period Rumm…

In order to determine the contribution of social pluralism (ethnic, religious, and racial differences) to violence, diverse multivariate cross-national analyses were done. Wiberg's Review Essay on Rummel
HAkan Wiberg' review essay (JPR, No. 4, 1982) on my five-volume Understanding Conflict and War (UCW) unintentionally provides an empirical test of an error assumption I applied to evaluate my propositions. In Volume 4 I tabulated the analyses of 317 quantitative international relations studies as to whether they supported or opposed 54 propositions on conflict, war, and peace. To these tabulations I also applied a one-level decrement to account f…
