Analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals in soil from a municipal refuse dump
The analysis of sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and several heavy metals present in the soil of a municipal refuse dump has been carried out. Levels of heavy metals were found to be normal except for lead and cadmium. A statistical analysis of the PAH data is provided to show that the main contributors to the PAH pollution load in the soils are motor vehicle emissions.
