Male and female variants for “I”; in Japanese: Cooccurrence rules
The purpose of this paper is to study the distribution of variant forms for “I”; in Japanese and find out the cooccurrence rules for each variant. Four aspects of speech levels are taken up: inflections of verbs and copula, kinds of verbs‐sentence‐final particles and word order.
