  • Archaeometallurgical Study of Middle to Late Western Han (c.140 BC – AD 8) Bronze Artifacts from Western Hunan, China

Open Access•Xiao Hang, Yuan Wei et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2026

Based on typology of cultural attributes, the present study classifies the middle to late Western Han period 21 bronze objects from western Hunan into two categories: objects with indigenous characteristics, and with Central Plains characteristics. The analytical results show that all samples are composed of lead–tin bronze and were manufactured using composite molds and two‐piece molds, with no obvious traces of post‐casting treatment. In terms …

  • Diagnostic Value of Umbilical Cord Blood Interleukin-6 Level in Premature Infants with Early-Onset Sepsis

Open Access•Jinfang Yuan, Yufeng Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2025

The detection of IL-6 in the umbilical cord blood offers convenience and exhibits significant diagnostic potential for EOS in preterm infants, thereby providing valuable support for clinical decision-making

  • Yishen Qufeng formula mediates ferroptosis to improve renal fibrosis in unilateral ureteral obstruction rats

Open Access•Jinglin Gao, Yuan Wei et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2025

These data establish YQF as a promising anti-fibrotic candidate, operating mechanistically via coordinated modulation of ferroptotic signaling cascades, redox homeostasis, and complementary pathological pathways to decelerate renal fibrogenesis

  • Association of multi-metals with the risk of hypertension and the interaction with obesity: A cross-sectional study in China

Open Access•Shan Wu, Alfonso Villarán et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

The combined effect of four metals (manganese, arsenic, cadmium and lead) were associated with the prevalence of hypertension. Potential interaction effects of cadmium, lead and obesity on hypertension risk may exist. Further cohort studies in larger population are needed to clarify these findings

  • Correlation analysis of anthropometric indices and type 2 diabetes mellitus in residents aged 60 years and older

Open Access•Xiaoyan Feng, Junyi Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Background and purpose In recent years, the incidence of obesity in people aged 60 and over has increased significantly, and abdominal obesity has been recognized as an independent risk factor for diabetes. Aging causes physiologic decline in multiple body systems, leading to changes in obesity indicators such as BMI. At present, the relationship between abdominal obesity markers and Diabetes mellitus (DM) in people aged 60 years and older remain…

  • Hospital variations in caesarean delivery rates: An analysis of national data in China, 2016-2020

Open Access•Shaohua Yin, Yubo Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2023

Background: The impact of China's use of caesarean delivery on global public health has been a long-term concern. The number of private hospitals is increasing in China and likely driving up caesarean delivery rates, yet specifics remain unknown. We aimed to investigate variations in caesarean delivery rates across and within hospital types in China. Methods: We retrieved data on hospital characteristics and national hospital-level annually aggre…

  • Technology-assisted adaptive recruitment strategy for a large nation-wide Covid-19 vaccine immunogenicity study in Brunei

Open Access•Chin Yee Shim, Si Yee Chan et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

A national study was conducted in Brunei to assess and compare the immunogenicity of the various brands of COVID-19 vaccines administered to the population as part of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme. Most of the population have had received at least 2 doses of BBIBP-CorV, AZD1222 or MRNA-1273 vaccines. Neutralising antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 induced by these vaccines will be analysed to infer population-level immune protection agai…

  • Development and implementation of a national mobile health application: A case study from Brunei

Open Access•Kai Shing Koh, Hong Shen Lim et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2022

Mobile health applications (m-Health apps) have the potential to provide low-cost, near instant access to health care to end users on a national level. They provide opportunities for remote monitoring, teleconsultation, virtual care, information exchange, and remote data capturing. National m-Health apps enable centralisation and consolidation of health data, which may assist policy and health [...]

Open Access•Wei Yuan, Yuan Wei et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

A one-stage anaerobic ammonium oxidation (ANAMMOX) reactor can be quickly started within 40 days by mixing partial nitrifying sludge with ANAMMOX granular sludge with an average temperature of 30 °C. After 70 days of nitrogen load acclimation, Acinetobacter, including Candidatus Kuenenia, became the dominant strain of the system within the reactor, which exhibited high efficiency and a stable nitrogen removal performance. At an influent chemical …
