Open Access•Sofie Bysted, Charlotte Overgaard et al.•ARTICLE•Health & Social Care in the…•2021•Referências: 9

Residents living in disadvantaged neighbourhoods have higher mortality and morbidity and participate less in health services than people living in more prosperous areas. Studies on how and why different approaches work for recruiting residents from disadvantaged neighbourhoods to health services are needed. Conducting face-to-face meetings with obliging health professionals (HPs) as part of an active recruitment strategy increases interest in ser…

  • Talk to Me, Not at Me

    Open Access•Annette Pedersen, Helle Haslund-Thomsen et al.•ARTICLE•Qualitative Health Research•2020•Citada por: 1•Referências: 40

Research shows that men tend to have delayed health-related help-seeking behavior. In this ethnographic study, we explored influential factors related to health-related help-seeking behavior among socially marginalized men who seem not to benefit from existing municipal health care services in a large Danish municipality. The study included 200 hours of participant observations and 25 ethnographic interviews with men between 45 and 65 years of ag…

Open Access•Pia Vivian Pedersen, Pernille Tanggaard Andersen et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social and Personal…•2012•Citada por: 5•Referências: 23

We aimed to obtain a greater understanding of the characteristics of social relations and experiences of social isolation among homeless people, substance users and other socially marginalized users of shelters and drop-in centres in Denmark. Based on in-depth interviews with 46 shelter/centre users, we created a typology of five groups: the socially related and content, the satisfied loners, the socially related but lonely, the socially isolated…

  • Alcohol use in Denmark

    Mette Grønkjær, Mathilde Vinther-Larsen et al.•ARTICLE•Addiction Research & Theory•2010

Using data from the National Health and Morbidity Survey from 2005, we examined the contexts of alcohol use in Denmark in relation to gender and age. Among the 21,832 subjects invited to participate, 14,566 completed the survey. For the entire study population and restricted to heavy users (>21 standard drinks per week for males; >14 for females), we computed the prevalence of each age and gender group who indicated to drink alcohol in different …

  • Analysing group interaction in focus group research

Open Access•Mette Grønkjær, Tine Curtis et al.•ARTICLE•Qualitative Studies•1970•Citada por: 12

Interaction between group participants is considered the distinct advantage and hallmark of focus group research. It is therefore necessary to include the social interaction dynamics in analysing focus group data. Little information is however available on analysis of the social interaction in the group and the analytical outcome for the content of the data. This paper contributes to the discussion of the value of participant interaction in focus…
