Paired for Success
This study examines the influence of personality-based matching in mentor-mentee pairings within a teacher residency program. Using the Big Five Personality traits, we investigated whether personality similarity and perceived similarity within mentor teacher (MT) and teacher resident (TR) dyads are associated with satisfaction in the mentoring partnership. Findings indicate that perceived similarity significantly enhances satisfaction, and when M…
Secondary Teachers' Adolescent Literacy Efficacy and Professional Learning Considerations
School requests for professional learning on adolescent literacy often stem from low or stagnant reading scores on state standardized assessments and legislative policies that require educators to complete literacy coursework. These decisions are often made without teachers' voices, requiring teachers to take coursework they may not need or learn in ways that may not align with their content. To address this issue, we used our researcher‐created …
Modification Indices for Diagnostic Classification Models
Diagnostic classification models (DCMs) are psychometric models for evaluating a student’s mastery of the essential skills in a content domain based upon their responses to a set of test items. Currently, diagnostic model and/or Q-matrix misspecification is a known problem with limited avenues for remediation. To address this problem, this paper defines a one-sided score statistic that is a computationally efficient method for detecting under-spe…
Development and Factor Structure of the Mueller Assessment of Transition (MAT)
This paper details the development and factor structure of the Mueller Assessment of Transition (MAT), a novel assessment to measure older adults’ wellbeing when transitioning into assisted living facilities (ALF). Older adult participants (n = 69) in nine ALFs in the United States completed the MAT. Exploratory factor analysis identified a 2-factor, 12-item solution of influences on older adults’ wellbeing. Further results found significant diff…
