    中國繪畫收藏於中國歷史上一直有悠久之傳統,而最初之起源亦難考. 根據文獻資料記載,收藏書畫已出現於漢代,因書畫收藏而產生之鑑賞 詞彙,也大約出現於漢代.這鑑賞詞彙之使用,多半是針對藝術品,主要包 括書法,繪畫,和器物之藝術上和價値上之品量.但是由於中國書畫鑑賞 和收藏家於中國歷史上具有特殊之地位,他們通常爲博學之仕或經儒. 因此,他們自然取材於文學或詩詞之用語,也將這類用語套用於書畫鑑賞 方面,但其意隨其時代及書畫發展而或有衍異.後代之書畫鑑賞家,以及 現代美術史家和學者,有時忽略甚至誤解這類用詞.這篇論文主要內容 爲二: 一爲略述早期中國書畫收藏之歷史(自唐代迄元代而止);二爲針 對元初重要之書畫收藏鑑賞家湯壁所採用之詞彙加以說明並追溯其源. 對湯蜃用詞之研究有助於對元代繪畫收藏和發展之認識釐淸
