Social Workers' Use of Power in Relationships with Grandparents in Child Welfare Settings
This paper focuses on ways in which social workers use power in their relationships with grandparents who are caring for grandchildren involved with child welfare agencies. Also examined are the ways in which grandparents perceive this use of power. Qualitative data were gathered from forty-three social workers and thirty-two grandparents in kinship care settings. Perceptions of Psychological Adjustment, Achievement Outcomes, and Self-Esteem in Japan and America
Evidence reported in the present article suggests that the widely used Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) does not as unequivocally assess positive self-regard in Japan as it does in America. American ( n = 98) and Japanese ( n = 120) participants assessed high self-esteem (HSE) and low self-esteem (LSE) targets who were depicted endorsing or rejecting RSES items. The Romano-British settlement at Woodcock Hall, Saham Toney, Norfolk (FIG. I) has been known since the mid-19th century when a local landowner, Thomas Barton of Threxton, donated some artefacts to the Castle Museum in Norwich. The site lies mainly in the parish of Saham Toney, but remains have been found in the adjoining parishes of Threxton and Little Cressingham. Social and Emotional Aspects of Voluntary Childlessness in Vasectomized Childless Men
Responses of 44 vasectomized voluntarily childless men and 51 vasectomized fathers were compared on the California Psychological Inventory, the Bowerman Scale of Marital Satisfaction and a questionnaire. The childless felt negatively stereotyped, but there were no differences between the parents and childless on marital satisfaction, reported childhood happiness or level of psychological adjustment. A highly controversial Centre performing early pregnancy terminations opened in Auckland in May 1974, and remained the only facility specialising in abortion in New Zealand. It closed following the enactment of the Crimes Amendment Act in December 1977.
