  • Segolate Nouns in Biblical and Other Aramaic Dialects

    This paper attempts to offer an explanation of the atypical segolate nouns like ksap and rgaz attested in Biblical and Targumic Aramaic. For this purpose two suppositions are made: (1) /a/ as the epenthetic vowel instead of /e/, and (2) subsequent and partial change of this unstressed, closed-syllabic /a/ to /i/, which was eventually realised as /e/.
