• Black Time in the Age of Covid

    Open Access•Eric Lewis•ARTICLE•Critical Studies in Improvisation…•2021

Both telematic performances and COVID suffer from latency. In telematic performance, it is the lag between a musical gesture you make, and the time that others in the network receive it. In COVID, it is lags between contact and showing symptoms, and between pubic health policy decisions and their effects. I argue that we need to embrace latency as an improvisational partner both in our telematic performances, and in our health care policies. I ar…

Eric Lewis•ARTICLE•Journal of the History of Ideas•2001•Cited by: 1•References: 2

The publication of Michael Albrecht's Eklektik (1994) revived a small amount of scholarly interest in an early modern "movement" with a lineage that can be traced back to Clement of Alexandria, who described a method of constructing a philosophical system by selecting among different philosophical sects. 1 Not surprisingly, the reception of Albrecht's work demonstrated the complexities associated with identifying the "movement" and categorizing t…

  • Anaxagoras and the Seeds of a Physical Theory

    Eric Lewis•ARTICLE•Apeiron•2000
