A Preliminary Account of Majolica Sherds from the Chapel Site, Royal Spanish Presidio, Santa Barbara, California
The Santa Barbara Presidio represents a Spanish occupation in Alta California dating from 1782 to around 1850. Although stratigraphic controls for the recovered Majolica sherds were difficult to maintain due to the urban nature of the site, the collection does represent the decorative styles present at the presidio during the latest period of Spanish colonialism in North America
