Delaware archaeology and the revolutionary eighteenth century
Ordinary and Poor People in 18th-Century Delaware
The authors and their colleagues have recently carried out excavations at three 18th-century farm sites in central Delaware. The Augustine Creek South and Thomas Dawson Sites were both occupied by ordinary property owners in the 1730 to 1770 period. The Augustine Creek North Site was occupied from about 1750 to 1810 by unknown but probably poor tenants, possibly in two chronologically separate occupations. Archaeology and Probate Inventories in the Study of Eighteenth-Century Life
Comparison of probate inventories with the findings of archeological research shows that neither, by itself, gives a complete account of eighteenth-century material culture. Data from excavations and inventory studies in Delaware illustrate how these sources can be used together to gain a better understanding of life. Archaeology provides particularly important data on poor households

Children's Perceptions of Mental Illness
Scheff's proposition that 'stereotyped images of mental disorder are learned in early childhood' was tested in a study of seventy-five (75) elementary school children. Interviews indicate that children were familiar with simple concepts associated with mental illness, i.e., crazy, nuts, and cuckoo, but that few children knew more sophisticated terms or psychiatric labels.
