  • Does a QR Code in the Invitation Letter Increase Participation in a Push-to-web Survey

Open Access•Claudia Schmiedeberg, Jette Schröder et al.•ARTICLE•CAM•2025

QR codes are increasingly used in postal invitations to web surveys to facilitate participation. We experimentally tested how a QR code in the invitation letter affects participation in a push-to-web survey of the German family panel (pairfam). The response rate was three percentage points higher with QR codes than without. The QR code effect on response did not differ by gender or education, but it was significantly higher for middle-aged than f…

  • What is Infidelity? A Vignette Study on Norms and Attitudes toward Infidelity

Christiane Bozoyan, Claudia Schmiedeberg•ARTICLE•The Journal of Sex Research•2023•Cited by: 2•References: 71

Infidelity is more than extradyadic intercourse, but it is unclear where infidelity begins and how behaviors are related to each other. We investigated data from a factorial survey experiment implemented in the German Family Panel (pairfam). 9,104 respondents evaluated 26,633 vignettes on unfaithful behaviors including four dimensions: explicit behavior, emotional involvement, infidelity duration, and erotic online contact. Results suggest that i…

  • Do Economic Hardship and Pressure Really Influence Parenting

    Open Access•Claudia Schmiedeberg, Christiane Bozoyan•ARTICLE•European Sociological Review•2021•Cited by: 3•References: 54

Poverty and its effect on parenting in the context of the family stress model have a long tradition in research, but results are rather mixed. Following this theoretical approach, we analyse whether poverty and financial pressure are associated with disrupted parenting. We draw on data from the German Family Panel pairfam and implement both between and within approaches to test whether parenting behaviours are associated with economic hardship an…

  • Zufriedenheit in der Partnerschaft und Untreue

    Open Access•Christiane Bozoyan, Claudia Schmiedeberg•ARTICLE•KZfSS Kölner Zeitschrift für…•2020•Cited by: 2•References: 59

  • The Weight Wage Penalty

    Open Access•Christiane Bozoyan, T Wolbring•ARTICLE•European Sociological Review•2018•Cited by: 2•References: 56

The wage weight penalty is a well-established finding in the literature, but not much is known about the mechanisms that bring this phenomenon about. This article aims to provide answers to the question of why overweight and obese people earn less. Using the data of the German Socio-Economic Panel, we conduct three theory-driven litmus tests for mechanisms that explain the weight wage gap: human capital differences, discrimination due to asymmetr…

  • Links gehen, rechts stehen!“ / “Walk Left, Stand Right!”

    T Wolbring, Christiane Bozoyan et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Soziologie•2013•Cited by: 4•References: 6
