The Uneven Impacts of Violence against Women Reform in Guatemala: Intersecting Inequalities and the Patchwork State
In 2008 Guatemala passed legislation criminalizing various forms of violence against women and mandating the creation of courts that would specialize in such violence. This article demonstrates that these reforms’ impacts were unevenly felt, with the most marginalized benefiting the least.
