Power(s) or Exploitation
The aim of this article is to overcome one of the conceptual antinomies behind the general opposition between Marx and Foucault: the antinomy between the critique of ‘capitalist exploitation’ and the analysis of the ‘relations of powers’. Using Balibar’s notion of ‘point of heresy’ I propose to follow a double movement: from Marx to Foucault, and from Foucault to Marx. In the first part, I show that several Marxian concepts are at once presuppose…
Poulantzas l'intempestif
The Gilets Jaunes
This contribution is dedicated to an in-depth look at the cycle of the Gilets Jaunes protests that marked the French and European political landscape between November 2018 and the beginning of 2020. An unexpected social and political phenomenon, this movement accompanied the presidency of Emmanuel Macron and influenced his political agenda. Through "co-research" work done in direct contact with the movement, the essay analyzes the social and geog…

Co-research as Counterinstitution
The stakes of the current shared interest in the idea and the practice of political inquiry are highlighted by the co-research led by Romano Alquati and the Prisons Information Group in which Michel Foucault participated. Each of these experiences produces knowledge through an “antisociology,” that is, through a refusal of the separation of inquiry from political intervention within two incarnations of capitalist power: technologically advanced f…
