  • The Military Expenditure – Economic Growth Nexus Revisited

Robert Hanson, R G Hanson et al.•ARTICLE•Peace Economics Peace Science and…•2024

The relationship between government defence expenditure and economic growth is a debated topic. This study uses UK data for the period of 1960–2012 and applies two of the most prevailing theories used within the literature, the ‘Feder-Ram’ and the ‘augmented Solow’ models, to assess this question. Robert Hanson, Robert L Hanson et al.•ARTICLE•Police Practice and Research•2004

Of late, little attention has been paid by criminologists to the nature of crime and the criminal justice systems in the countries of Central America. Given its many natural attractions, favorable exchange rate, and proximity to the USA, the small Central American nation of Belize is striving to become a tourist destination. However, Belize is also beset with a very high crime rate—a function of a myriad of social, political, and economic problem…

  • Webern's Chromatic Organisation

    Robert Hanson, Robert B Hanson•ARTICLE•Music Analysis•1983

In this article some of Webern's pre-serial 'atonal' pieces are examined in order to explore his methods of using the semitone as an organizing force. Briefly, the semitone can be used as an interval between two pitch-classes and can be extended to form semitone clusters. At its height, this chromatic technique becomes not only a means of linking thematic and harmonic fragments but also a prime mover in the shaping of a piece, a procedure Pousseu…

  • The Role Path

    Robert Hanson, R G Hanson et al.•ARTICLE•Human Organization•1968•Cited by: 1

When an adult migrates from from a rural community to the city, he enters a world of unfamiliar roles, new social relationships, and different patterns of behavior. Through socialization into the culture and social organization of the rural community, he develops an understanding of that community with its recognized social positions, and the role prescriptions and behavior associated with these positions. In the city, a process of resocializatio…
