  • Comparison of excess deaths and laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 deaths during a large Omicron epidemic in 2022 in Hong Kong

    Open Access•Hualei Xin, Alexandra H T Law et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2025

Background: Using an elimination strategy, Hong Kong was able to minimise COVID-19 mortality in 2020 and 2021, but a large epidemic caused by the Omicron variant occurred in 2022. We aimed to estimate the overall, age-, sex-, epidemic period- and cause-specific excess mortality in 2022 in Hong Kong and compare excess mortality to laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 mortality. Methods: We used negative binomial regression analysis to model time series o…

  • Self-reported vaccination-related behavior patterns among healthcare workers and the association with self-directed learning frequency: A nationwide cross-sectional survey

Open Access•Yuan Ma, Xuan Han et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Background: Healthcare workers play an essential role in improving the public's vaccination uptake, but the full picture of such workers' engagement in vaccination-related behaviors has not been appropriately identified. According to the Integrated Theory of Health Behavior Change, self-directed learning may be a promising intervention for fostering engagement in vaccination-related behaviors, but the association between self-directed learning an…

  • Awareness, knowledge and attitude toward influenza vaccination in several population groups in China: A cross-sectional study

Open Access•Binshan Jiang, Zhenzhong Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Background: We aimed to comprehensively analyze awareness, knowledge and attitude toward influenza vaccine and the factors associated to vaccine acceptance among the young and middle-aged general population, healthcare workers, and health-related administrators in China. The factors influencing the promotion of influenza vaccination were also evaluated among healthcare workers and administrators. Methods: -values < 0.05. Results: A total of 3,239…

  • Integrated vaccination and physical distancing interventions to prevent future Covid-19 waves in Chinese cities

    Open Access•Bo Huang, Jionghua Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Human Behaviour•2021•Cited by: 4•References: 52

  • Covid-19 control in China during mass population movements at New Year

Open Access•Simiao Chen, Juntao Yang et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet•2020

  • Modeling the Heterogeneity of Dengue Transmission in a City

Open Access•Lingcai Kong, Jinfeng Wang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2018

Dengue fever is one of the most important vector-borne diseases in the world, and modeling its transmission dynamics allows for determining the key influence factors and helps to perform interventions. The heterogeneity of mosquito bites of humans during the spread of dengue virus is an important factor that should be considered when modeling the dynamics. However, traditional models generally assumed homogeneous mixing between humans and vectors…

  • Solidification and Biotoxicity Assessment of Thermally Treated Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) Fly Ash

Open Access•Bing Gong, Yi Deng et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2017

In the present work, thermal treatment was used to stabilize municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash, which was considered hazardous waste. Toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) results indicated that, after the thermal process, the leaching concentrations of Pb, Cu, and Zn decreased from 8.08 to 0.16 mg/L, 0.12 to 0.017 mg/L and 0.39 to 0.1 mg/L, respectively, which well met the limits in GB5085.3-2007 and GB16689-2008. The…

  • Time series analysis of dengue fever and weather in Guangzhou, China

Open Access•Liang Lu, Hualiang Lin et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2009

Minimum temperature and minimum humidity, at a lag of one month, are positively associated with dengue incidence in the subtropical city of Guangzhou, China. Wind velocity is inversely associated with dengue incidence of the same month. These findings should be considered in the prediction of future patterns of dengue transmission
