  • Scale dependency

    Open Access•Lin Chen, L X Chen et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Disaster…•2026

Addressing single-scale analysis limitations, this study integrates Multivariate Variational Mode Decomposition (MVMD) with Wavelet Transform Coherence (WTC) to examine multi-scale spatial relationships between rural settlements and landslides in Yongfeng County. MVMD was used to decompose settlement and landslide density sequences into Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) for systematic multi-scale analysis. Subsequently, WTC identified localized cor…

  • Association of parental favouritism in childhood and depression in old age

Open Access•Dongxu Li, Zhengrong Li et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2025

Background: The global prevalence of depression is on the rise, and has evolved into a major public health concern. Methods: We retrieved 19 180 data points from 3836 individuals aged 60 years and over from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study 2011, 2013, 2015, 2018, and 2020 …

  • The association between childhood hunger experiences and health in middle and old age

Open Access•Dongxu Li, Xi Guo et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

CHEs had a negative impact on the health of middle and old age. While their effects on depression and cognitive function gradually worsen, the effects on self-assessed health and memory were mitigated over time. Lifestyle factors such as smoking, exercising, and sleep duration were transmitting factors of the health effects of CHEs. Thus, the health status of individuals who experience childhood hunger warrants attention

  • How growing up without siblings affects the adult brain and behaviour in the CHIMGEN cohort

Open Access•Jie Tang, Jing Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Human Behaviour•2025•References: 80

  • The relationship between childhood hunger experiences and activities of daily living disability

Open Access•Weile Zhang, Min Su et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

CHEs predicted ADL disability, and depression mediated this correlation. There is a need to focus on the impact of CHEs on mental and physical health. In particular, focusing on mental health is necessary to prevent impairment of physical functioning

  • The association between chronic disease and depression in middle-aged and elderly people

Open Access•Dongxu Li, Min Su et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Background: Depression in chronic disease patients was an important public health problem. However, limited work has been done on how to alleviate the depression of chronic disease patients. This paper attempted to explore the alleviating effect of health insurance and health service quality. Methods: A total of 11,500 middle-aged and elderly people were drawn from four waves (2011, 2013, 2015, and 2018) of the China Health and Retirement Longitu…

  • A GIS-Based Damage Evaluation Method for Explosives Road Transportation Accidents

Open Access•Jing Zhao, Jing Ya Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2023

The road transportation of explosives is highly concerning due to its substantial impact on social safety. For the safety management of explosive transportation, e.g., transport route planning and emergency rescue, explosion consequence evaluation is of paramount importance. The consequence evaluation of explosion accidents is affected by many factors, especially spatial features, such as the location of transport vehicles, the distribution of bu…

  • The Effect of Medical Choice on Health Costs of Middle-Aged and Elderly Patients with Chronic Disease

Open Access•Dongxu Li, Min Su et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

    (1) Background: The discussion on how to reduce the health costs of chronic disease patients has become an important public health issue. Limited research has been conducted on how chronic disease patients' medical choice of public and private medical institutions affect health costs. (2) Methods: This study used the panel data composed of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey (CHARLS) from 2011 to 2018, adopted the quasi-natural ex…

  • Leachate Pretreatment before Pipe Transportation

Open Access•Mingde Xie, Xi Guo et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Leachate and landfill gas are the main contaminants produced by modern sanitary landfills. The leachate easily leads to clogging in the leachate transportation pipe, and the landfill gas can be used as renewable energy after the removal of CO 2 . The study aims to investigate the removal of the major scale forming ion of Ca 2+ in leachate using raw landfill gas before pipe transportation. The research demonstrated that, under the given experiment…
