  • The Participation and Representation of Women in the Debate on the Future of the European Union

    Mercedes Mateo Diaz•ARTICLE•South European Society & Politics•2004•References: 8

While the process of the constitutional Convention in itself may represent a wide consultative and participatory exercise aimed at inclusion and dialogue, the involvement of women participants is relatively small and low-level. This raises the possibility of a democratic deficit in the process of EU constitutional reform. Yet, with the question of parity, quotas and gender mainstreaming high on the political agenda of a number of member states, i…

  • The Spanish Case

Margarita León, Margarita León García et al.•ARTICLE•South European Society & Politics•2004•Cited by: 3

This contribution surveys the Spanish debate on the European Union (EU) Convention. We analyze the echo that the debate has had in the political arena, in civil society and in the media, and identify the main issues at stake. We argue that the Spanish debate on the EU Convention has been widely used as a framework to discuss matters of clear domestic interest, the most prominent of which is the distribution of power among national and sub-nationa…

Mercedes Mateo Diaz•ARTICLE•Revue française de science…•2003•Cited by: 1

  • As cotas fazem diferença? Ações positivas no parlamento Belga

    Open Access•Mercedes Mateo Diaz•ARTICLE•Opinião Pública•2003•Cited by: 1•References: 2
