This very fine specimen of a beaker or drinking-cup urn was unearthed in May 1934 at the Mill Farm, Rathen, near Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire.While one of the fields was being prepared for cropping, the cultivator displaced a large flat stone, and on removing this, the farmer's son, Mr Patrick Catto, discovered the beaker.After an interval of some days intimation of the find was sent to Dr W. On llth May 1932, during cultivation 011 the farm of Whitmuirhaugh, Sprouston, two short cists'containing bones were found.Being informed of the fact by the Rev. D. Two Short Cists at Upper Boyndlie, Tyrie, Aberdeenshire
On the farm of Upper Boyndlie, in the Parish of Tyrie, Aberdeenshire, in the fields near the farmhouse, there are two prominent natural mounds, marked on the Ordnance Survey Map as the Castle Hills. Excavations at Reay Links and at a Horned Cairn at Lower Dounreay, Caithness
Excavation of the cairn revealed a chamber containing disarticulated human bone, Neolithic and Beaker pottery, a stone axe and animal bone. A secondary cist contained a skeleton and two Beaker vessels. Investigation of mounds in the vicinity of a known Viking grave at Reay Links revealed four empty long cists and an unstratified bronze strap end of early medieval date

A stone cist contained a crouched adult female skeleton accompanied by jet beads, a fragment of a bronze awl, an obsidian flake and some charcoal
