Because it’s fun’: English and American girls’ counter-hegemonic stories of alcohol and marijuana use
Girls’ alcohol and other drug (AOD) use are depicted culturally as problematic. In this comparative, qualitative, study the voices of 59 English and American justice-involved girls give a counter-hegemonic portrayal of their alcohol and marijuana use. This volume arises from interest, on the part of a group of scholars and over a number of years, in the Memoirs of Sylvester Syropoulos, one of the main Greek sources for the Council of Ferrara-Florence. Syropoulos, a senior patriarchal official, travelled with the Greek delegation and was present at the council, and wrote his own personal account of events. Recent interest in the text developed through a translation seminar at the University of …

In 2005, Tia Kolbaba published an article in Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies entitled ‘On the closing of the churches and the rebaptism of Latins: Greek perfidy or Latin slander?’ In it she argued that reports of Greek closure of Latin churches and rebaptism of Latins in the early 1050s were fabricated.
