  • Immanent Justice Reasoning by Spatial Proximity

Open Access•Mitchell J Callan, Joshua Moreton et al.•ARTICLE•Social Psychological and…•2021

Immanent justice reasoning involves causally attributing someone’s bad outcome to their prior immoral actions. Building on the idea that causality is mentally linked with spatial proximity, we investigated whether such reasoning might lead participants to spatially bind together immoral actions and bad outcomes. Across four experiments ( N = 553, Mechanical Turk workers), participants positioned sentences describing other people’s bad (vs. good) …

  • Individual differences in sensory integration predict differences in time perception and individual levels of schizotypy

Open Access•Benjamin Fenner, Nicholas Cooper et al.•ARTICLE•Consciousness and Cognition•2020

  • How much does emotional valence of action outcomes affect temporal binding

Open Access•Joshua Moreton, Mitchell J Callan et al.•ARTICLE•Consciousness and Cognition•2017

Temporal binding refers to the compression of the perceived time interval between voluntary actions and their sensory consequences. Research suggests that the emotional content of an action outcome can modulate the effects of temporal binding. We attempted to conceptually replicate these findings using a time interval estimation task and different emotionally-valenced action outcomes (Experiments 1 and 2) than used in previous research. Contrary …

  • Mechanisms of intentional binding and sensory attenuation

Gethin Hughes, Andrea Desantis et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Bulletin•2013•Cited by: 1

Sensory processing of action effects has been shown to differ from that of externally triggered stimuli, with respect both to the perceived timing of their occurrence (intentional binding) and to their intensity (sensory attenuation). These phenomena are normally attributed to forward action models, such that when action prediction is consistent with changes in our environment, our experience of these effects is altered. Although much progress ha…

  • A Poet at Court

Gareth Alban Davies, Gethin Hughes•ARTICLE•Renaissance and Reformation•1969

ceived.Among influences of Osuna on later writers, that on the metaphysical poets seems most important. The author has performed a welcome service and done so with skill and subtlety.Specialists in Spanish literature or in mysticism will derive the most benefits, but the few non- specialists who are likely to pick up a book with such a title will find unexpected rewards. The book does not make easy reading, to be sure, as in the case of Osuna himse…
