Psychometrics: Classical Test Theory
Detecting Differential Item Functioning Using Logistic Regression Procedures
A logistic regression model for characterizing differential item functioning (DIF) between two groups is presented. A distinction is drawn between uniform and nonuniform DIF in terms of the parameters of the model. A statistic for testing the hypothesis of no DIF is developed. Through simulation studies, it is shown that the logistic regression procedure is more powerful than the Mantel‐Haenszel procedure for detecting nonuniform DIF and as power…

Detecting Significant Contrasts in Analysis of Variance
A problem that arises frequently in Analysis of Variance is that after rejection of the overall hypothesis, none of the contrasts of interest may be found to be significant when using the available multiple comparison procedures. A procedure for determining the contrast that is responsible for the rejection of the hypothesis is outlined, and the relationship between the "most significant" contrast and the overall test is shown. The implications o…

Analysis Of Quasi-Experimental Time-Series Designs
Multivariate procedures, based on the general linear hypothesis, are outlined for inferring treatment effects in quasi-experimental time-series designs. These procedures, which take into account the dependent nature of the data obtained in time-series experiments and which require comparing the fitted regression curves for the pre-treatment and post-treatment observations, provide exact tests of significance for the various hypotheses of interest
