  • Factor Structure of the Preschool Personality Questionnaire in Iran

Open Access•Etemadi Ahmad, AHMAD ETEMADI et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2002

This study is of Triandis's pseudoetic variety, not a cross-cultural study per se. The Preschool Personality Questionnaire which was standardized in the SA and partially standardized in Colombia was administered to 600 preschool children in Iran. Data from the entire sample were analyzed by both principal components, maximum likelihood, and alpha factor analyses. 14 factors were derived. Odd and even records were likewise factored. Six of the fir…

  • Background for and Development of a Brief Adult Behavioral Classification Project Inventory

    Open Access•Sam Marullo, Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1998

An abridgement of the Adult Behavioral Classification Project Inventory (AdBCP) was accomplished. The creation and development of the full-scale Inventory is described in Phase I. In Phase II, the participant pool was divided into half, and each half of the data set was subjected to both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses with a factor control of 11 of the strongest factors in the original data set. Items identifying these factors had t…

  • A Further Validation of the Children's Behavioral Classification Project Inventory

    Open Access•Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1997

To add evidence of the validity of the Children's Behavioral Classification Inventory, the response of parents and teachers were compared on a set of 110 items of the inventory which describe behaviors equally observable to both groups. The two sets of data were subjected in Phase I to principal components analysis to extract two factors in each case which were compared by means of the Ahmavaara transformation and found to be highly comparable. I…

  • Longitudinal Study of a “Student's Evaluation of Course” Including the Effects of a Professor's Life Experiences on Students' Evaluations

    Open Access•Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1997

Issues of import to students' evaluations include accountability, improvement of teaching, anonymity, meaning and motivation of such evaluations, and validity and reliability. The very brief Student's Evaluation of Course, an entirely anonymous rating scale, is presented here for use only by the instructor, not for administrative purposes. Validity has been described previously. In this study, students' ratings of the six course-relevant items ac…

  • Background for and Development of a Brief Children's Behavioral Classification Project Inventory

    Open Access•Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1996

A brief form of the Children's Behavioral Classification Project Inventory was developed. A Proto-CBCP Inventory consisting of 229 behavioral items and 11 demographic variables was administered to 351 parents of children with clinical problems and 80 normal control parents. The analyses of these data were thoroughly criticised by experts in psychology and related fields. From this critique and trial runs which included 22 demographic variables, a…

  • Sorting Data Sets and Computing Medians for Skewed Distributions

    Open Access•Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1995

Clusters derived from data sets require meaningful interpretation, for which standard statistical packages, major spreadsheets, numerical computation texts, as well as the specialized Journal of Classification provide little help. Interpretation can be made from a profile of summary scores, means, or medians, representing distributions of scores. For such a profile, medians are preferable to means where the distributions are highly skewed. To aut…

  • Prediction of Recreational Therapy Behavior of Hospitalized Adolescents from a Behavior Classification Instrument

    Open Access•Michael Berard, Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1994

The purpose of this study was to estimate the validity of an instrument of the Adolescent Behavioral Classification Project in predicting behavior patterns of emotionally disturbed adolescents in an inpatient setting. Subjects ( n = 126) were adolescents admitted to a state residential treatment unit across a period of 35 months. Predictor variables were scores on 17 or 25 factors of the instrument from both adolescents' own responses and their m…

  • A Restandardization of a Brief Scale of Religious Orthodoxy, Religious Humanism, and Religious Radicalism

Ralph Mason Dreger, Susan A Adkins•ARTICLE•International Journal for the…•1991

The Salvation Opinionnaire (SO) was initially standardized in the late 1940s and early 1950s by the first author and his colleagues. A proto-SO consist- ing of 45 items was administered to 763 subjects and subjected to Thurstone- type scaling. From the scaling procedure and a chi-square analysis, 25 items became the SO, which was then administered to a standardizing sample of 351 subjects. For the present restandardization, 96 judges made a Thurs…

  • A Microcomputer Program for Matrix Multiplication Using a Tape Unit

    Open Access•Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1976

A microcomputer program is described for multiplying two matrices as large as 41 × 42 apiece. The major advantages of using a tape drive are single entry rather than multiple entry of data elements of matrices A and B and increase of memory capabilities. The major limitation is slowness of tape search. Verbal description of logic facilitates use of the program on different brands of computers

  • A Microcomputer Program for Anova Using a Tape Unit

    Open Access•Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1976

A microcomputer program for two-way analysis of variance is described. Both the program and cell entries are stored on tape. Output consists of both intermediate and final products. Advantages of using a tape unit with a microcomputer are convenience, capacity, and flexibility. Limitations are found in not having data on cards and in the inability of the program to handle nested or mixed designs

  • "Big Jiffy"

    Open Access•Richard L Gorsuch, Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1979

A program is described that answers the intermediate need for a computer procedure that can provide a reasonably sophisticated factor analysis for as many as 500 variables—a program to cover the vast majority of factor analytic requirements with nearly the same degree of ease as that afforded by use of the "little jiffy" programs

  • A Chi-Square Program for a Microcomputer Using a Tape Unit

    Open Access•Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1979

A program utilizing a microcomputer and tape drive is described which requires only the entering of the number of rows and number of columns, plus one-time entry of cell frequencies. Despite some limitations, the usefulness of the program for problems difficult to handle on a calculator and not fully suitable for a large-scale computer has been demonstrated

  • Sets of Basic Programs for Factor Matrix Comparisons

    Open Access•Ralph Mason Dreger•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1985

BASIC programs for three different factor matrix comparison methods are described. Each method has several forms: Ahmavaara's procedure has one program for data entered as DATA, another for small matrices with data already stored on disk (or tape), another for large matrices with data already stored, and another for data already stored but with intermediate matrices not printed. The congruence coefficient programs include one for data entered as …
