The analysis and discussion of the findings from the survey examine the issue…

  • The Cambridge Handbook of the Development of Coping

Open Access•Carolyn Aldwin, Maria Kurth et al.•BOOK•Cambridge Handbook of the…•2023

The Handbook's goal is field building - it brings together theory and research from across the spectrum of psychological, developmental, and related sciences to inform our understanding of coping…

Our literature search resulted in 32 studies with samples from the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Studies were l…

A central question for the exploratory Aboriginal and LGBTQ+ researcher led project 'Breaking the Silence: Being Indigenous and identifying LGBTQ+' (Breaking the Silence) is how provision of genuinely inclusive service responses for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people identifying as LGBTQ+ can be developed. This article presents the qualitative findings of this mixed-methods research project to show how organizational staff working in he…

  • Commentary response

    Open Access•Kathryn L Modecki, Samantha Low-Choy et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Child Psychology and…•2021

Concerns have been raised that smartphones may harm children and families. Arguably, risk‐driven discourses are not always evidence‐based. This is a problem, because blanket assumptions of risk drowns out nuanced empirical questions of what constitutes “good” parenting when it comes to smartphone use, and for whom. Here we outline three logical missteps which have contributed to the deficit zeitgeist—ignoring context, misinterpreting effect, and …

  • ‘Wings to fly’

Open Access•Bep Uink, B Hill et al.•ARTICLE•The Australian Journal of…•2019

Although there have been repeated calls for empirical evaluations focused on if and how the activities of Indigenous Education Units contribute to Indigenous student success at university, data demonstrating the outcomes of these activities remain scarce. As a first step in addressing this gap, a case study of the Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre is presented which documents the development and implementation of its student success strategy. Informed b…
