Sentence Comprehension and Working Memory in Malay Adults
Studies on sentence comprehension have centered on understanding the intersection between language and cognition. The aim of the current study was to examine the association between complex sentence comprehension and working memory (WM) in Malay adults. We predicted that WM storage (as indexed by performance on a WM listening span task) would be invoked during the processing of complex Malay sentences (object relatives), but not simple sentences …

Al-Jahiz was a bibliomaniac, theologian, and spokesman for the political and cultural elite, a writer who lived, counselled and wrote in Iraq during the first century of the 'Abbasid caliphate. 'In Praise of Books' explores the centrality of books to Al-Jahiz's work and to the society he lived in.
Spectral Armies, Snakes, and a Giant from Gog and Magog: Ibn Faḏlān as Eyewitness Among the Volga Bulghārs1
This article is based on a close reading of Ibn Faḏlān's narrative of his forced detention by the King of the Volga Bulghār during which he saw some local mirabilia. I propose to consider the wonders he describes, including his use of the Qur'an as corroboration for some of them, from the point of view of ‘iyān, visual perception, eye-witness testimony. Settlement and Post-War Planning
As demobilization begins, thousands of soldiers and workers in war industries will return to their home communities. In search of a livelihood many of them will turn to farming. Some will be financially able to purchase their own farms. but more perhaps will look to State and Federal governments for assistance. If present congressional interest in associated legislation may be used as a criterion, apparently help will be forthcoming
