Understanding the Relationship of Humanity to God and to Creation Through God's Love
Based on Luther's twenty‐eighth thesis in the Heidelberg Disputation , which contrasts God's love and human love, Tuomo Mannermaa offers a detailed analysis of the theme of love in Luther's theology, highlighting its paradoxical character. According to Mannermaa's interpretation, Luther insists that God's love and human love move in opposite directions: the essence of God's love is creative and self‐giving, directed toward nothingness and deficie…
Daoist Unique Pursuit of Tianren Heyi
This paper critically examines Lu Guolong’s interpretation of tianren heyi, arguing that his portrayal of it as an inherent virtue of Chinese culture—and his positioning of Daoism between Confucianism and Buddhism—remains conceptually inadequate. Through a textual analysis of oracle-bone inscriptions, the Shangshu, and the Guoyu, the study reconstructs the notions of shenmin bu za and the four historical “transgressions”, thereby demonstrating th…
Artificial intelligence’s challenges to the essence of humanity from the perspective of Martin Luther’s anthropology in Chinese context
This article argued the following points. Firstly, the challenge posed by artificial intelligence (AI) to the essence of humanity is serious. Secondly, it is important to analyse the external context and internal dynamics of the history of interaction between knowledge and power. Thirdly, it is necessary to trace the intellectual history of humanity becoming god-like. Finally, by combining Martin Luther’s anthropology with insights from social sc…
Creation myths and generative ontology in ancient China
This article endeavours to prove that there were creation myths of human beings or certain things, but there were seldom creation myths of ontological cosmology in ancient China. This will be warranted through the distinction between the concepts of ‘to create’ and ‘to beget’, the distinction between ‘Cosmology I of creationism’ and ‘Cosmology II of begetting’, and the relationship between the One and Many. The only exception is the myth of Nüwa …
The Development of the Structure of Feeling in the Brazilian Liberation Theology Movement
Raymond Williams's concept of the "structure of feeling" aims to describe the shared experiences, attitudes, and emotions of social groups at specific historical moments. However, this theory has been criticized for lacking a rigorous theoretical framework, clear definitions, and boundaries, as well as for failing to adequately explain its interaction with mainstream ideology. This paper attempts to address these issues through the lens of the Br…

Watchman Nee's anthropology has been widely debated and polarized in academic fields. However, Watchman Nee's concept of human and the problem of ecclesiastical practices have often been overlooked in contemporary Chinese mainland churches. In the first three sections, this paper will start from different Chinese mainland denominations' interpretation of Nee's concept of human and their corresponding ecclesiastical practices. On the one hand, thr…

Confronting Confucian Understandings of the Christian Doctrine of Salvation
A complete exploration is the first systematic analysis ever comparing the central religious doctrinal aspects of Christianity with those in Confucianism. Huang's work carefully covers the whole history of the Confucian-Christian tradition, and ends up with genuinely new insights. He elaborates on the idea of transcendence in the Confucian tradition in a manner which enables an interpretation of the Christian means of salvation. His explanation o…
